About this project

Hydro-Québec, in partnership with TPI France (Paris), entrusted Falcon with the execution of a complex, ongoing logistics program involving the transportation of over-height industrial reels from Belgium to Quebec. From the outset, the project required a high level of coordination, foresight, and operational control. Moving non-standard cargo across international borders—at volume—left little room for inefficiencies or delays. Falcon was selected for its ability to combine structured planning with real-time adaptability. Since 2024, Falcon has ensured consistent, on-schedule deliveries while maintaining full visibility and control across every stage of the operation.

The Story of
Hydro-Québec

Hydro-Québec is a global leader in renewable energy and one of the largest producers of hydroelectric power worldwide. Its operations are central to Canada’s energy infrastructure, supporting both public utilities and large-scale industrial development.

Working alongside TPI France, Hydro-Québec manages complex international procurement and logistics flows tied to critical infrastructure projects. These supply chains demand precision, reliability, and partners who can operate at a high level of accountability.

Falcon’s collaboration with Hydro-Québec reflects a shared commitment to operational excellence, long-term planning, and consistent execution in demanding environments.

The Challenges Faced
& Overcame

The nature of the cargo immediately introduced constraints. Each reel exceeded standard height limitations, requiring specialized handling and the use of flatrack equipment. This alone added layers of complexity at both origin and destination.

At the terminal level, the cargo could not move through conventional processes. Mandatory stripping was required, which meant early coordination and negotiation with terminal operators had to be secured well in advance. Timing became critical, as any misalignment between vessel discharge, handling, and trucking availability could quickly lead to delays or detention costs.

Delivery added another level of complexity. Each reel was assigned to a specific destination based on its serial number, meaning there was no flexibility for error or misrouting. Trucking windows had to be tightly controlled—often within the same day or a two-day window—to maintain flow and avoid additional charges.

With multiple units moving simultaneously and no tolerance for disruption, the entire operation depended on precise sequencing and constant oversight.

how falcon
Responded

Falcon approached the project with a planning first mindset. Before cargo even arrived, coordination with terminal operators was already in place, ensuring that stripping, handling, and storage requirements were clearly defined.

From there, execution was driven by sequencing. Each reel was tracked and scheduled according to its final destination, allowing trucking to be organized with precision and eliminating unnecessary dwell time.

Throughout the process, Falcon maintained a central control role, continuously aligning all moving parts—ocean, terminal, and trucking—while staying responsive to real time conditions.

Communication remained constant, ensuring that every stakeholder operated with the same level of clarity and expectation.

Why falcon
Was Chosen

Hydro-Québec required more than a service provider—they needed a partner capable of managing complexity at scale without losing control of the details.

Falcon demonstrated early on that it could anticipate operational challenges, structure solutions in advance, and maintain clear communication across all stakeholders.

Equally important was Falcon’s ability to remain flexible. In a project where variables could shift quickly, responsiveness and decision-making speed became just as valuable as planning. This combination of foresight and adaptability ultimately positioned Falcon as the right fit.
