Introduction

Heartland Petrochemical Complex LP, a division of Inter Pipeline, is North America’s only single-site PDH/PP facility, producing 525,000 tonnes of polypropylene annually. With operations rooted in innovation and sustainability, Heartland sought a logistics partner that could match their level of precision and accountability. Falcon International was selected to manage the transport of ten over-dimensional units from China to Canada—executing every phase with excellence, from planning to final delivery.

The Challenges Faced
& Overcame

Our Team Ovrcame:

  • Time-sensitive operations due to a complete plant shutdown

  • Unstable vessel schedules and limited cargo space during peak congestion

  • Oversize cargo requiring special permitting, escorts, and heavy-duty equipment

  • Coordination across multiple jurisdictions and service providers

  • Mitigating risk of delays while ensuring QA/QC at every step

how falcon
Responded

Our team immediately took the lead. From day one, we managed communication with over ten subcontracted entities including carriers, vessel operators, surveyors, and permitting authorities. Despite vessel delays and adverse weather, we secured ocean freight within two weeks—meeting the critical departure schedule.

At the Port of Everett, we coordinated direct trailer-to-vessel loading—a requirement from port authorities due to the cargo’s weight and dimensions. We then executed a seamless inland move using stretchable lowboy trailers, navigating cross-border compliance and weather risks.
