CN Rail has announced service delays and shutdowns due to ongoing wildfires in Manitoba and parts of Ontario, highlighting the broader impact of the province’s escalating wildfire emergency.
According to CN’s operations update, intermittent delays are affecting the Sprague and Redditt subdivisions—key lines east and south of Winnipeg—while the Kashabowie subdivision west of Thunder Bay is currently fully shut down. The railway emphasized that safety is its top priority and that teams are actively monitoring the situation to restore service once conditions permit.
These disruptions come amid a rapidly worsening wildfire crisis in Manitoba, where over 1,000 residents have been evacuated and two fatalities have been confirmed near Lac du Bonnet. The provincial government has declared a state of emergency in parts of cottage country, including Whiteshell Provincial Park, and hazardous air quality has forced school closures in some areas.
We continue to monitor the situation and its impact on rail service. These disruptions may affect some shipments, and we are working closely with our partners to minimize delays wherever possible.
We appreciate your continued patience and understanding during this challenging time. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need assistance with alternative arrangements.
